Julie and Julia Inspired

I went and saw the movie "Julia and Julie" or "Julie and Julia" whichever it is! I highly recommend it. It inspired me to blog more and to cook. Something tells me I will blog more and I will cook! Two days in a row worth of blogging ... Wow! It is possible! Although, how do you get into what to say! Today was uneventful, pet sitting wise. However, I must smell good because every single dog today has their nose stuck to me, smelling my legs and my shoes. I always wonder what's going through their heads and if I should introduce them to each other as their smelling each other and if they met each other in person, would they know the other dog from smelling it on me??? Ponderables!

Little Girls In Big Boxes

The funniest thing happened while I was checking in on a friends dog the other day. I hear a knock at the door so I go to the front door and through the side window I see a box with what looks like a black wig in the box. My friends daughters are always playing dress up so I figured that a neighborhood kid must have borrowed the supplies. Well, when I opened the door I realized that there was a real live little girl stuffed in the box. You can't imagine what went through my mind. I said to the box...."Hello???..." The girl does not move a muscle. I actually tapped the side of the box with my foot, why???? Who knows! I needed the little girl to move. I actually was starting to think that someone stuffed a little girl in a box, who might be dead, and dropped her off! Right when I was ready to go into rescue mode the little girls pops up and says....To be truthful, I don't remember what she said. She scared the devil out of me! To which this little 6 year old (?) started jabbering away. She wanted to know if I knew her other neighbor because she almost gave her a heart attack. She just talked and talked not even noticing, I don't think, that I wasn't who lives in this house. Then all of a sudden she picks up her box and says she's off to the next house! Is that not hilarious! She never stopped talking! I wanted to ask her if she thought of her little trick all on her own. Pretty inventive. Maybe she watched "Punk'd". I had to write about this! Too funny, too cute, but one I hope her parents keep an eye on!

Picking Up After Your Pets

I've been walking dogs for going on five years now. I am an expert at knowing when my shoe/boot hits mud versus dog poop! Poop has a different feel to it entirely and of course stink! I hate when people don't pick up after their dogs. Maybe the excuse is it's biodegradeable...Do these people know that 30% of the e-coli found in our water systems (including our drinking water) is from pet waste. It's also considered a "bio-hazard" by the EPA...How to get that message out I'm not sure...Maybe bumper stickers that say... Be Kind Pick Up After Your Pets Behind

I'm Back!!!

Wow! It's been since January that I last wrote...It is hard to keep up with pet-sitting, facebook, personal email, business email and still try to be my lazy self! Will try to do better!

More Snow

Okay, I just noticed that I've been commenting about snow since I started my blog in November. I must take a new video tomorrow to show what was added to our snow yesterday. 10 more inches! It's been a long, white winter, which hasn't happened in awhile. However, even though it's usually not fun to drive in when it's like it was yesterday, it is pretty and I like it a hundred times better than COLD RAIN! Which would be our other option this time of year! Oh well, it won't be long until we'll be complaining about the heat!

In Loving Memory of Sophie

I'm posting this a little late, but I want to talk about dear old Sophie. I've been watching Sophie on and off while her human goes on vacation and business trips since 2005. Sophie was so sweet. She loved to eat as you can see. She would always come waddling down the stairs to greet me when I came in, talking the whole time. Sophie loved being brush, that was always the first order of business. She would always walk around for a little while when I first started brushing then she would eventually plop on her side. Since she was a portly thing, she loved having her back, back legs and butt brushed. She would stretch those back legs out so I could reach every inch of them. Eventually she'd roll on her back so we could get to the belly. She would always lick her front paws when the brushing was at it's best. On nice warm days, Sophie loved to go outside and check out the grass, flowers and bugs around her deck. She was such a pleasure to take care of.

I got to take care of Sophie her last week. She was not eating good but was still her sweet self, although I had to go upstairs to her most of the time. I had a hard time saying goodbye to her that last day. I knew her Mom was taking her to the vet when she got home and I just had this feeling. So I gave her extra hugs and kisses and cried like a baby when I left. This is the hard part of this job. I love them each of my "kritters" like they are my own. But the blessings I receive from each of these gentle creatures that God put on this earth to love us are worth more than I can put into words. The good part is Sophie had a good comfortable life and lived to a ripe old age. I'll miss you Sophie!

Let It Snow!

It's been cold and snowy in Northeast Ohio! I would say it's awful but I talked to one of my Kritter Care clients today who is up in Quebec Canada and she said it was -33 degrees there. So I decided our 10 degrees today was warm. Even though I slid into a ditch with the icy roads. Me, Dad and the car are fine, too! Tomorrow and Friday are to be the coldest days yet, but I think the snow is stopping. It's tough on the pet sitter and the sitted. Oh well, it won't be long until I'll be writing about the heat!

More Ginger the Cat

Wanted you all to see how Ginger does when I get up and walk around or toward her. Pretty funny! For anyone who is afraid of cats, this will freak you out!

Making Progress With Ginger the Cat

I have been pet-sitting with Ginger for over two years now. She is never happy when her owner leave her and she makes it known to me with my first visit to the house. The first time I ever visited her, she hissed, growled and stalked me everywhere I went. Now I can pretty much walk by her during her hissing and growling without fearing being attacked from behind! She makes a great watch cat! After about the second day she loses her need to guard the first floor and changes her post to the stairs to the second floor. This last visit, one on of her not guarding the doorway days, I was in their kitchen putting mail on the island when I felt her rubbing against my legs and a little meow came out versus a hiss! I held perfectly still, once I moved and looked at her she hissed though. But we definitely made progress with me sitting on the floor and
the help of her favorite treats! This is a video of our peace work progress.

Happy New Year!

I'm back! It's very snowy and COLD here in Northeast Ohio. I'm starting to figure this thing out and as soon as I upload some pictures and movies from my camera I will add some and this might be more entertaining. Since it's too bad to go out, I will work on this! Wish me luck!
